Seeds For Hope decided to match chickens 1 for 1.  For every family that would invest in a chicken, SFH would buy a chicken to match, for that family.

I’ve travelled quite a bit over the last few weeks and have visited a number of students, who are studying in every which way, from all the way in Maasai lands, to right here at Dagoretti High School just outside Nairobi.

But what about hope? You see, when I started SFH, it was with the vision to restore hope. That oh-so-intangible-yet-somehow-tangible feeling that gives you everything you need. Its like the quote above says, “Hope is like a magnificent wind; invisible to the eye, but with the force to move things far more visible.”

A culture of poverty is a mindset, attitude, and application of behaviors that exist within individuals, families, communities and even national structures/institutions which is in persistent need and waiting. It transfers through generations.

One grandmother, caring for 18 orphans, the grandchildren of 4 of her own children who have all died, as well their spouses. Another caring for 6, 3 her own, 3 her dead sister’s with no one else to care for them.
