Samuel is an orphan
currently living with a single grandmother. Sam’s mother died
while he was 3 years old from AIDS. He and his 3 brothers were
taken in by their grandmother but later as the other 3 boys grew up
they all dropped out of school due to finances and lack of even food.
They opted to start doing manual labor and moved out to live on their
own in the slums. Sam’s grandmother continued to urge Sam
to continue with primary school despite all the sufferings they were
going though.
In October 2008, Optaros Inc. donated a laptop to Seeds For Hope, and
it was given to a girls school in Kibera, one of the largest slums in
the world. Since then, the girls have used the laptop for their
journalism club, along with a digital camera that was donated, and
already it has made some huge impact, as the girls are now joining the
world of Social Networking.
Animoto, a New York City based web media company has developed an application, which allows users to create media content easily by the use of their "Cinematic Artificial Intelligence" technology. Animoto has partnered with Seeds For Hope to help us provide stronger content to spread the word of the work we do in East Africa.
In the Fall of 2008, Optaros Inc. a Boston based consulting firm
specializing in next gen web strategy and assembly, donated a laptop to
Seeds For Hope. The laptop was given to a girls school, which
has plans to use this not only for themselves but to benefit their
community. A simple gift goes a long way.
